I have worked at the Altoona Highway and Public Works Yard for 24 years. I have been able to see and learn many skills while stepping in to do and try many of the jobs available.
I feel that reaching out and taking advantage of this opportunity to become a foreman is a natural one and one I can succeed at if given the chance to prove myself.
I have proven myself as a hardworking general laborer with a dedicated work ethic and solid industry background. Knowledgeable with operations of heavy and light equipment to accomplish tasks. I also am reliable and works well in varying conditions.
I know I can put my best foot forward for the chance to help my fellow workers succeed in the job(s) we are expected to do, as a foreman. .
My job is to create, paint, and install all necessary street signs to ensure my city's streets stay safe.
My job also requires me to be on-call for any sign removals and/or replacements that occur, no matter the time of day. It should be noted that I have never turned this part of the job down, and I take it very seriously.
Finally, my job also has me helping to create road lines, walkways, and other street markings to ensure that drivers and pedestrians stay safe.
I have also been asked to do the foreman job on occasion and felt I did a good job, and that this would be a good fit for me.
I also make sure that I am ready during the winter months in order to help get the plowing down, as needed. I also have never turned a shift down.
I served my country in the Army and National Reserves for 14 years. I also served overseas in Iraq.
It was my responsibility to learn how to drive, maintain, and work on heavy machinery, especially tanks. I learned how to be a working part of a tight-knit unit, ready to fight and survive.
I was also expected to think on my feet and train to make sure I was a combat-ready, able-bodied soldier, along with the rest of my unit.
This is where I crafted my on-the-job readiness and work ethic, and is why I can think on my feet and problem-solve when needed. Being part of a team is the biggest skill I learned and why I feel I would make a good foreman.
I have many awards and honors while serving my country and have completed any trainings offered by my workplace.
