As a Senior Intern at the Senator’s district office, I was tasked with constituent management and served as first contact for constituents reaching out to our office.
My role required strong communication skills as we addressed a wide array of contacts. We answered inquiries regarding state issues and policies , facilitated communication between constituents and caseworkers, and addressed political comments and concerns. I assured constituents that their thoughts on bills and policies were valued and strived to be a faithful representative of our office.
Our office is committed to responding to every constituent who contacts us in a timely manner. Serving as initial contact to our office, I would relay important and time sensitive details to our casework manager, document and draft responses to constituent concerns, and help with community outreach. I assisted in creating certificates of recognition to honor people and businesses in our local community.
This position included both collaborative work with other interns and independent work. As a Senior Intern, I helped with training new recruits in how to preform certain tasks.
Additionally, this position greatly taught me more technical skills with office applications such as Word and Excel.
