In addition to working at Turtle Hatch, I grew up in a family Christmas Tree business. My grandfather was one of the founders of the Pennsylvania Christmas Tree Growers Association. My family operated a retail Christmas Tree lot in New Cumberland for 56 years and we also grow trees at our farm in Perry County. Growing of the trees is my passion. My parents bought the farm when I was 6 years old and I "lived" Christmas Trees most of my life. From variety and seedling selection, planting, mowing, weed, disease and insect control to trimming and harvesting and eventually marketing and harvesting, I have done it all. Growing up, farming was our backbone and it shaped what I have done all of my life. It helped me decide to go to college for Ornamental Horticulture, at which I focused on landscape contracting, nursery management and general plant science. After college I had a successful landscape contracting business, which I had for 30 years, ending in 2019
