Volunteer Experience

Volunteer Experience
  • I participated in fieldwork at a nonprofit organization focusing on behavioral health support. In this role, I applied my classroom knowledge to real-life situations, conducting intake assessments, participating in case management meetings, and providing one-to-one support under supervision.
  • These volunteer experiences allowed me to develop strong communication and interpersonal skills, gain a deeper understanding of community resources, and further solidify my passion for helping others. They have also provided me with a solid foundation for excelling in a professional role in human services or social work.
  • During my time with the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission, I had the honor of participating in various volunteer projects that allowed me to create a meaningful impact in international communities. One particularly moving experience was a mission trip to Tijuana, Mexico, where our team focused on raising awareness about the challenges faced by immigrants, promoting border safety, and providing essential resources for immigrant development projects such as building homes, schools, and community centers.
  • Another deeply impactful trip was to Zimbabwe, where our team addressed ongoing community needs by supporting agricultural initiatives in greenhouses and open fields, supplying essential school materials for students, conducting workshops to empower teachers, and expanding learning spaces for students and educators.
  • In addition to the hands-on work, I also had the opportunity to engage with local community members, gaining a deeper understanding of their needs and challenges. This experience helped me develop strong teamwork, adaptability, and leadership skills as we worked together to address pressing issues and improve the quality of life for those we served.
  • My time with the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission solidified my commitment to service and helping others and provided me with a global perspective on community development and social justice. I am confident that the skills and insights gained from this volunteer experience will significantly benefit me professionally, and I am eager to bring this passion for service to my work.
