Reporting to the Director of Public Relations, my responsibility is to manage external communications for UT Southwestern Medical Center. I identify impactful health and science-related storytelling opportunities to elevate UTSW's reputation as a top-ranked academic and research institution. This includes building relationships with and sending pitches to national media outlets, coordinating media interviews and training for researchers, assisting with SEO-optimized news releases, utilizing design software to create media packages, and collaborating with the legal and government relations departments to create a succinct crisis communications strategy.

Key Accomplishments:

• Advise medical leadership on communications strategy and policies.
• Assist in the creation of the annual communications strategy, aligned with U.S. News & World Report rankings.
• Successfully landing an average of 4 media placements weekly in national media markets.

As a direct report to the Director of Public Relations, I was responsible for managing internal and external communications for Carter BloodCare's three regional headquarters, across Texas. My internal communications duties included media training C-suite executives, developing crisis communications strategy, assisting Human Resources in producing employee engagement content, implementing/enforcing brand policies, reviewing and editing company documentation, and collaborating with external-facing departments to ensure consistent messaging. My external duties spanned acting as the organization's media spokesperson, planning donor gala events, producing external-facing content, creating public relations plans, identifying newsworthy stories, and public affairs/community engagement.

Key Accomplishments

• Expanded CBC's speaking engagements to local universities to target younger, diverse blood donation support.
• Developed a public relations campaign regarding sickle cell disease and African-American blood donation.
• Solely managed crisis communications media in 2018 during a major blood donation shortage.
• Successfully coordinated CBC's donor galas for 1300+ attendees, across three regions.

As a direct report of the Marketing Communications Manager, I was responsible for managing the RKD Group's internal and external communications, along with supporting the agency's marketing and sales team. My communications portion of the role required me to produce compelling B2B blog content and social media content. Additionally, I supported Human Resources in creating and editing engaging employee memos and guidelines. The marketing portion of my role required me to assist in putting together proposals for million-dollar nonprofit digital marketing accounts.

• Grew the agency's B2B social media account by 40%.
• Supported marketing pitches that landed million-dollar nonprofit accounts.
