  • Duties, Scheduling patients in with clinics in the private sector outside of the VA. Contacting patients to collect their preferred day and times of the week to help with scheduling their appointment with the outside clinic of the patient chose. Once the patient has been contacted of the appointment date and time then we enter in the appointment info in to CPRS and VISTA and then create an Authorization in HSRM then we send by fax the Authorization and paperwork that the clinic needs for that patient. We use CMT program which generates are list of consult titles that we are assigned to us. We can separate each consult title to their own groups on this program where we can focus on each one in a timely matter, on these groups of consult titles there are patients and their info so we can pull them up in CPRS and work them. I work the consult titles Dental, we also must answer the phone and check voice mails, help patients that comes in with questions. As a group we have a fax file on computer were each of us must go in and check them daily to clear out the folder and address any questions. We also get records sent to our files we to review and then send them over to scanning to be scan in to CPRS.I help and take care of patients with there care and help them get where they need to be and make sure they are okay and happy with their clinic they choose. I also do Tracks and reports leave patterns and elects and assigns codes from the current version of several coding systems.

  • Duties taking care of patient and helping the nurse with duties. Duties wiping beds and area down with disaffected cleaner after each patient has been discharged from the Er. Our task was to Make sure supplies were stocked examples (gloves, mask, eye and ear taps, Kleenex's, and wipes) before I left my shift, so it was stocked up for the next shift. I created a job where I took the patient down to radiology for x-rays MRI CT by wheelchair or walked them down there as many didn't know where it was. I would push patient down to radiology area and wait with them until they got the rest down and pushed them back to the ER as it was hard to get the volunteers to come help with transporting patient as they were busy helping other departments within the hospital. I also enjoyed setting with patients when they come into the ER with metal health needs as sometimes, they just need a friendly face to help them dam down or work through their problems. Sometimes I would have conversation with the patient to take their mind of what them problems and just to be a listen ear usually helped them work through their problems. I used CPRS to document cares and vitals in the patients charts before the patient was admitted or discharged. There was handful of times I got floated to other areas of the hospital to help.

  • Duties I got placed at the VA in the Non-VA Care area as a temp to help with records request and scanning and scheduling patient for appointments. I used vista scheduling and cprs and a spread sheet to keep track of the patients that was assigned to us. I also answered phones and directed calls to the right person and departments and faxed records to clinic. I also worked in Care centers as temp staff around the Des Moines surrounding area.
