I am an instructor of professional-level maritime subjects. I am the instructor of courses such as GMDSS, RADAR/ARPA, Small Craft Operations, Ship Operations, ECDIS, Workplace Safety, Meteorology, Navigation, License Preparation, and Watchstanding Simulation.
I have sailed on seven summer sea terms and mentored many students in developing the skills needed for a career aboard ships of unlimited tonnage.
I started as a Marine Vocational Lecturer and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2023.
As the Chief Mate of the Training Ship Golden Bear, my responsibilities included the management of the maintenance and operations of the ship, working under the Master of the vessel. I had the opportunity to work with faculty, staff and Cadets of the State University of New York Maritime College during this period.
As Chief Officer, I was responsible for managing the deck team and deck operations. My responsibilities included the maintenance of the hull, machinery of 122,000+ GRT passenger vessels, and OOW. I was the designated review officer for voyage planning and monitoring.
