I have been successful in most any endeavor I have undertaken. With a wide range of experiences, I have learned many skills that can't be taught or are not taught in schools. I am personable, honest, conscientious, curious, and loyal. I feel I am an asset to any company or organization I work for.
Home Repairs and Remodeling
My Business was based on referral. I was recommended by previous customers who became repeat customers. My Work and Work Demeanor spoke for itself. The results of referral resulted in these responsibilities:
Meet and greet prospective customers, inspection of work to be done, assessment of any obstacles which would impede the work, propose a plan of action. Provide a materials list and approximation of how much time it takes to do the job.
SELL THE JOB
Collection of deposit
Procure materials and do the work. I hired helpers to assist in some aspects of the job when it was physically impossible to do the work alone.
Collection of completion funds
Incidental work, vital to the smooth operation of the business included, Bookkeeping, Vehicle maintenance, tool repair, promotion, and dodging the authorities.
Still doing it when I can
I started playing professionally when I was 15 years old. Thanks to my Uncle Marty (a great pro musician in his own right) I was able to meet the right people and connections which enabled me to make more money at 16 than people doing 40 hour workweeks in factories.
In my long career, I have been a Sideman, Promoter, Agent, Band Leader, Emcee, Contractor, Event Coordinator, Event Organiser, and General Personality.
Many of these tasks and events require extreme diligence and organization including: interviewing and hiring vendors, hiring the right personell, shepherding people, and conducting the orchestra.
Having Recently moved to Las Vegas, I have mostly left this all behind, as I move into a more practical phase of my life suitable for my age, wisdom, and capability.
Contract Driver/Courier (Independent)
I picked up and delivered tires for, mostly Discount Tire Stores, in and around the Las Vegas area.
Responsibilities included: p/u and verification of correct tire sizes, delivery of merchandise in a timely manner, truck maintenance and cleanliness, efficient and cordial relations with Discount Tire stores Management.
I never cracked minimum wage with this job due to low volume, long distances between stops, low pay (by the delivery) and high gas prices. Plus, I beat the hell out of my truck doing it.
Driver (Independent)
Yacht Broker
Founder Stuart Nissan Fleet Division
Commission Sales
As a "Lot Lizard" Duties include: Cordial and responsive attention to customer's needs. Negotiation of selling price. Ensuring a positive delivery experience.
Main duty: Extracting as much money as humanly possible from customer to dealership.
After dabbling in Fleet sales I was promoted to fleet manager. Sold many fleet deals, 23 cars to a local rental agency, 15 light trucks to Bechtel Inc. nationwide contractor for construction of huge nationwide projects, 65 cars and trucks to Avis rental, 3 300ZX's to Penski Racing.
I left this job because of the 14 hour days and extreme measure of detail and paperwork required of these deals. I warranted a part time secretary, but I got no support from management. At the end, new management came in and decided to take away all my powers as fleet manager. All of my hard work in building the division was dashed. This was intolerable.
Made a Lot of money, tho. Went into Yacht Brokerage.
