Kevin Gilkes II

So far during my time as a Police Officer with Norfolk Police Department, I have been tasked to patrol my assigned sector in 12 hour shifts. I am responsible for answering Calls For Service with due regard for safety of the public and fellow Officers. When not on a call I proactively patrol high crime areas to deter crime and ensure the safety of the public. I am proficient in detailed incident reports, investigations, collecting evidence and statements from suspects and witnesses. This leads to regularly attending court proceedings and providing testimony for my cases and other Officers cases. I am up to date on legal procedures and departmental policies which aids in apprehension of suspects. I often work closely with other Officers to apprehend wanted fugitives in our local jurisdiction.

During my short employment at Constellis awaiting my pending acceptance to Norfolk Police Dept. I was tasked to monitor and maintain a safe and clean environment for agencies to use for training. That included maintaining flat ranges and training facilities. I often participated in training scenarios as an extra that simulated real world conflicts as well as surveillance.

As a Groundman working for the IBEW I was tasked with traveling to various cities around Eastern United States to rebuild the Electrical Infrastructure in areas that have been hit by natural disasters. This position often led me to travel at a moments notice. I worked closely with other crew members in planning and problem solving in a timely manner to ensure the safety of our staff and local citizens.
