Preparation and administration of the department’s $7,158,205.00 operating and capital budget.
Set the goals, objectives, and direction of the Public Safety Department.
- Worked in conjunction with Owosso Public Schools to facilitate the standardization of critical incident response to all Owosso School facilities.
Implemented a School Resource Officer Program at Owosso Public Schools in 2013 with two officers. The program was expanded to four officers in 2022.
Grant coordinator for the Public Safety Department, responsible for over 1.4 million in grant dollars received since 2013.
Implemented an in-car camera system for all Owosso Police vehicles in 2013. In 2021, the program was expanded to full body-worn cameras as well as in car cameras.
Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Owosso, responsible for emergency operations plan for natural and man-made emergencies. Maintain and administer the city’s Emergency Operations Plan. Partnership with the Shiawassee County Emergency Management office and Shiawassee County Health Department.
Serve as the Chief Public Information Officer.
Serve on labor negotiations team for the City of Owosso.
Lecture and communicate effectively with students.
Initiate thought-provoking classroom discussions to help students develop their critical thinking abilities.
Executive Lieutenant, Operations Division, 2012. Assistant Divisional Commander.
Executive Lieutenant, Service Division, 2009-2012. Responsible for budget, procurement and contract management. Supervisor to over thirty sworn and non-sworn in the 911 center, IT and records bureaus.
Shift Lieutenant, Operations Division. 2006-2009. Supervised a staff of over fifteen sworn command and public safety officers. Responsible for all police, fire and EMS calls in the City of Kalamazoo.
Public Safety Sergeant, Operations Division. 1998-2006. Oversaw the supervision of personnel, including work allocation, training and enforcement of all laws and ordinances.
Detective, Criminal Investigative Division. 1996-1998. Performed investigations of alleged violations of all criminal laws and ordinances.
Public Safety Officer, Operations Division. 1989-1996. Assigned to one of seven zones and conducts preliminary investigations and assure community through high visibility policing.
