As a beginner foreman, I have been put in charge of multiple projects, and I have been trusted to foresee the completion of these projects while maintaining a safe environment for my crew. While also making sure I meet the company's standards while meeting with the deadlines of the general contractor. My responsibilities include.

  • Leading electrical installation projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and industry regulations.
  • Coordination with project managers to align electrical work with overall project timelines and goals.
  • Reading and understanding blueprints so I can set up tasks for my crew and keep everyone busy.
  • Supervising a team of electricians to ensure tasks are completed on time and with clean workmanship.
  • Maintaining documentation for electrical installations and repairs to ensure traceability.

  • Came in as a construction leadman on a 94,000 sq ft project out of state in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Coordinating throughout email with my foreman, project managers, and chief estimator I took charge on many tasks on this project that included but not limited to
    -Receiving, laying out, and installing an exterior 15kV, 1200A medium voltage switchgear that was made up of 9 sections.
    - Receiving, laying out, and installing (2) interior 480/277V, 4,000A low voltage switchgears that combined was made up of 17 sections. I was also in charge of installing all the SACE EMax 2 breakers into the switchgears, including the main breakers.
    - Receiving, laying out, and installing (4) runs of 1,600A aluminum busway with the longest run spanning over 270 feet.
    - Understanding blueprints and coordinating day to day plans with my foreman, relaying information to a 17 man crew to produce productivity.
    - Head safety personnel at the project for my company, and made sure to enforce our company's safety rules and conducted our weekly safety meetings.
    - Spent a month as the lead personnel at the project closing out punch lists, or any issues that came up during that span. I was in constant communication with the building company, and my front office throughout this time via email and Microsoft teams meetings.

Throughout my apprenticeship, I worked on a lot of different jobsites and learned a lot of important and valuable skills in the trade such as-

  • Installation of electrical panels and circuit breakers under supervision.
  • Measured, cut and bent wire and conduit using hand benders, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Installed electrical wiring and fixtures, such as outlets, switches, circuit breakers, junction boxes and receptacles.
  • Installed lighting fixtures such as fluorescent bulbs or LED lights.
  • Dug trenches and glued conduit together supporting the conduit according to the duct bank specs.
  • Examined and tested electrical systems to locate loose connections or other faults and make proactive repairs.
