From the age of twelve I began helping my father with electrical installation and repair jobs. I also assisted him with carpentry and cabinetry and maintained various other summer jobs before I was old enough to officially have a job. I grew up in a low income family in the nineteen-eighties and have been working in some form or fashion for about as long as I can remember. I believe that the quality of a person’s work is a measure of his character.

- As owner and manager of this HVAC, Electrical, Control Wiring and Plumbing business, I was responsible for many roles: Job Scheduling, Sales, Control Wiring Design and Drawings, Crew leadership, Logistics, Customer Relations as well as day to day operations associated with any business. In our best year, Delk Services Inc serviced a three state area including: Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama. The bulk of our work was centered around commercial and industrial service and also included restaurant equipment. After 2020, our business began to decline from a loss of work related to the Covid era of lock downs and policy changes among our customers as well as the loss of oil field customers.

- As the lead Technician at Shaffers Optical, I was responsible for the fabrication of lenses and eyewear. I was also required to calibrate automated machinery responsible for the surface forming and edging of eyewear lenses. I was required to be able to read optical prescriptions and translate them and other measurements into the software and machines used in that process. I also learned various types of math required to make fine adjustments to machinery.
