Reporting aboard following a large transfer season and extended dockside availability, BMCS Pryer immediately trained and led the inexperienced crew to near perfect results in both the Ready for Operations Assessment and Comprehensive Law Enforcement Assessment of Readiness. Demonstrating an unparalleled work ethic and standard of performance, he motivates the crew through personal example and investment in each individual’s personal and professional development. The crew of CGC IBIS, both individually and as a whole, have greatly benefited from BMCS Pryer’s leadership, dedication to training, and his constant pursuit of excellence. His overall performance is nothing shy of outstanding and he excels in training, leading, and motivating others; constantly creating, meeting, inspiring, and exceeding the goals that he and his teams set.

BMCS Pryer possesses broad operational experience, having served in the Coast Guard’s multi-mission patrol boat and small boat station fleets. He has successfully served in command cadre positions on multiple patrol boats in District Seven and one patrol boat in District 8. BMCS Pryer demonstrates a mastery of shiphandling and patrol boat operations, moreover he espouses a passion for and delivers superior training to his crew.

BMCS Pryer weighs all risks, gains, and time considerations to accomplish the best outcomes. He has been qualified and certified on multiple platforms for more than fifteen years; performing exceptionally on numerous Search and Rescue cases, Counter Drug, and Alien Migrant Interdiction operations. When making decisions, he demonstrates keen analytical thought and practicality. His recent recommended Search Action Plan adjustment during a Mass SAR Event led to the expedited discovery of a debris field and search for survivors. During a period which saw a 300% rise in maritime human smuggling, he carefully balanced operations with training and crew rest, constantly adapting to changing circumstances and consistently delivering outstanding results.

BMCS Pryer supports his crew, closely monitoring their health and well-being and initiating support services when needed. Most recently, he activated Critical Incident Stress Management following a nationally covered Mass SAR Event.
