Summary

I have worked for Tarpley Music in multiple capacities. Even though I did leave for a stint to pursue a full-time ministry and AVL production career, I ultimately came back because I see that there is something different about Tarpley. The environment, the culture, the people, and the industry are things that are close to my heart. I have had a lot of different job experiences, but none of them have focused on culture like Tarpley. As a Christian I believe that a lot of the Tarpley Essentials are spot on with the examples set by Jesus. Serving, loving, encouraging, and honesty are all traits that our essentials encourage. Are we perfect? No, but we try to work together to help each other grow in them. That is evident in every positive review that we receive. What I can promise is that if you choose to move forward with me as the store manager, I will do my best. I will always care about the people. I will always care about the experience. My goal is to always be growing, whether that is as a person or as a business.

Work History

Assistant Store Manager

Tarpley Music Company
Burleson
12.2023 - Current
  • I manage the schedule for all Sales Specialists.
  • I have been directly involved in the hiring process for five employees who have been part of our team in Burleson.
  • I have trained five guitar repair technicians for Burleson. It is great that the knowledge I have learned over the past 28 years of playing guitar is able to help Tarpley and its customers.
  • I have worked side by side with Chaz to help enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • I have integrated tools such as To-Do to ensure that the sales staff knows what they need to be focusing on for that time period. This process has eliminated mistakes, such as doubling up on podium payments. It also gives the team a tool they can use if there is ever a situation in which management isn't available.
  • I encouraged starting a weekly management meeting. We have seen many fruits from that. And since those have been happening, there have been fewer communication breakdowns at the store level.
  • I encouraged starting team check-in meetings where we can hear from our employees and give them a purposeful platform to voice ideas and concerns. I believe these have been fruitful, as well.
  • I work alongside the sales team up front and help them navigate situations with which they aren't familiar or comfortable.

Campus Production Coordinator /Lead Audio Engineer

Stonewater Church
Granbury
01.2022 - 11.2023
  • As the Campus Production Coordinator, I was tasked with training and team building for all campus production teams across five campuses.
  • I was in charge of installing, maintaining, and training for all AVL across the campuses outside of Granbury, and for major events.
  • I managed a ticket system for repairs, installations, and other needs.
  • I ran AVL as needed for the campuses and for events.
  • I was the lead audio engineer over every campus, including the Granbury campus. Granbury is the campus that Stonewater streams from, so there is different infrastructure and maintenance needed there for audio.
  • I love the relationships I was able to develop with the campus production teams. I encouraged them not to be afraid to ask for help, and to also communicate with the teams from other campuses to make sure they are staffed appropriately at each campus.
  • I helped create a consistent workflow that is obtainable and consistent for the campus production teams. The system is now so consistent that if there is an issue that arises, they can be helped out over the phone while the Production Coordinator is driving their way. I made sure that all routing and layouts were identical across every campus outside of Granbury. When you have a good foundation laid in front of you, it is much more efficient and less stressful when an issue arises.
  • Also noteworthy, I saved the church a lot of money by making and fixing cables for AVL. It was much more budget-friendly to buy bulk cable and terminate them at the proper lengths. I did this for XLR, Speakon, TRS, Cat5, and others. I think it is a good thing to find ways to save.
  • Outside of building teams. Some projects I was proud of include: converting an old board to a MIDI controller, being part of the Riverbend Auditorium lighting installation project, and being able to mix events and see how God was working.

Sales Specialist /Guitar Repair Technician

Tarpley Music Company
Burleson
07.2020 - 12.2021
  • Helped customers discover the right instruments for them.
  • Learned AIMsi.
  • Guitar Repair Technician
  • I helped train Matthew on guitar repairs. I helped him with electrics, and he was able to give me some tips on acoustics, on which he had more experience.
  • Customer interactions: I would greet every customer with a smile. I wasn't afraid of working with a customer because they were looking at an instrument I do not personally play.
  • I was a music education major, as well as having experience with a touring band. So I am passionate about getting people to make music.
  • Music was and is a huge part of my daily life, even outside of work.
  • I naturally live by the Tarpley Essentials, most of the time. That is a big reason I was originally hired. Even in my first interview with Chaz, I was telling him things I was passionate about, and he couldn't help but respond by telling me that I was a natural fit.
  • I assisted with rental drives when I was available.

Worship Leader / Music Director

Stonewater Church Cleburne
Cleburne
01.2019 - 12.2021
  • First and foremost, I was passionate about making sure people were growing spiritually. I love being able to pray with people.
  • I was in charge of team building. I would encourage and push the individuals in our team. Sometimes it wasn't comfortable for them, but with a little guidance, they were always able to excel.
  • I was in charge of managing the schedule.
  • I would plan events and make sure they were executed to the best of the team's ability.
  • Being that the pandemic hit during this time, I was often forced to pivot and adapt. There were many weeks when we would rehearse on Tuesday with a full team, and by the time Sunday came around, I had to change the set and reorchestrate things to work with what we had available.

Purchaser /Retail Sales Associate

N Tune Music
Aledo
07.2017 - 06.2020
  • I worked in the storefront. Stocking, cleaning, packaging, working with their POS, doing instrument contracts, and helping customers get the instrument they need.
  • As the purchaser, I was the only one in charge of placing orders and building relationships with the vendors.
  • I helped save them a lot of money by finding better ways to order items. For example, when I would place the Korg order for TM60 and CM300bk, I would get 1,000 units packaged together. If memory serves me right, the drive season order was typically 2,500 units to start with, and we would save about $2.50 per unit when packaged as the combo, so it saved around $1,000.
  • Anytime we had a special order, I would make sure that the employee would get a call and/or email with the status and ETA of that order, so they could share that with the customer. That was very much appreciated across all locations.
  • I looked at trending sales, and would order accordingly. For example, when I ordered stock for each store for drive season, I took the average of the past three years, minus school sales that aren't guaranteed, and that is what they started the season with.
