  • I served as the senior enlisted advisor to the company commander on matters related to the training, morale and welfare of the enlisted Soldiers within my company.
  • I oversaw 15 and directly supervised 7 Soldiers with seven different occupational classifications as part of a larger Civil Affairs organization and provided support to an additional nine officers.
  • I developed, coordinated and conducted training for my company and worked with local leaders to include my Soldiers in civic events.
  • I developed operating procedures and guidelines to streamline training and unit management and coordinated joint training with other Army Reserve units and Army recruiters in the immediate area.
  • I provided support to my Soldiers for briefings on various topics related to mission operations.
  • Previously, the number of Soldiers I managed ranged from 5 to over 250 in Civil Affairs (both airborne and non-airborne), support and instructional units.
  • I ensured all assigned equipment was properly maintained and deployment-ready.
  • I coordinated the use of resources through appropriate lines of control and assumed the duties of officers as required.
  • I was a primary delegate for Key Leader Engagements with local leaders and high-echelon government officials and frequently provided briefings to senior leaders on various topics related to mission operations and status.
  • During a recent deployment, I was reassigned from my Reserve unit to serve as the first sergeant on the command staff of the Mission Control Element (Forward) of the 1st Infantry Division. While assigned, I managed approximately 500 Soldiers and three million dollars of equipment on a daily basis and coordinated activities of the installation management with the local military and civilian leadership. That mission included conducting readiness and inter-service training with NATO and other allied partners.
  • While deployed to the Horn of Africa, I served as the team sergeant for a Joint Civil Affairs Team (comprised of ten Army, Navy and civilian personnel) and established a firefighter training program which led to the development of the host nation’s second fire department and provided multiple training courses pre-hospital emergency care to the teachers of three schools totaling over seventy people.
