Monitors/supervises county-sentenced inmates engaged in daily work activities such as sanitation, laundry service and food preparation; escorts inmates to/from work areas; provides basic training and sets standards for work tasks; supervises performance of tasks; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; completes inspection logs and disciplinary reports.
Ensures the integrity of exterior and interior facility security; monitors in-house radio transmissions to maintain an awareness of activities in other areas of the detention facility; receives security calls or security checks from designated posts; monitors closed-circuit television cameras, telephones, alarm systems, intercom panels, and/or control panel doors; alerts appropriate personnel of security violations and potentially threatening situations; contacts.

Controls exit and entry to doors, hallways, stairwells, elevators and sally ports; controls and monitors access to and movement within the detention facility by operating remote control panels for gates and doors and by checking identification of all persons entering/exiting controlled areas;

Calculates daily totals of monies received from and disbursed to inmates; enters deposits into inmate accounts and reconciles account balances; processes commissary purchases and requests for medical services; accepts cash and surety bonds for the release of inmates; makes
daily bank deposits.
Accounts for inventory of keys; monitors inventory levels of equipment and supplies; initiates request for new or replacement materials.
Notifies appropriate personnel of routine situations requiring attention, such as mechanical problems, shortages in food trays, or low inventory levels of first aid supplies; communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, inmates, and other individuals as needed to
coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, resolve problems or give/receive advice/direction.
Operates a variety of standard and specialized machinery, equipment and tools associated with assigned duties, which may include a telephone, computer, postage meter, calculator, vehicle, radio/communications equipment, copy machine, facsimile machine, forklift, fingerprint photo
imaging machine, pressure cleaner, carpet and floor cleaning equipment and mechanic and power tools; ensures equipment is working properly.
Prepares, completes and/or maintains various forms, reports and/or logs which may include chronological activities, incidents and accidents reports, head count, turnover, zone and bond transmittal sheets, work orders, visitor passes, cash bond receipts, property forms, key and mail logs, reference materials, or other documents; reviews, processes, forwards, distributes or retains as appropriate.
