Back Yard ADUs is a start-up company formally based out of East Hampton Massachusetts. The Company's Co-founder brought me and my construction company LiveWell Home Improvement on board to act as the General Contractor. As part of this joint adventure, I became a %40 owner of the company. At the time the start-up began, ADUs where not "by right" in many of the cities and towns in the state of Massachusetts. Together, the companies Co-Founder and I worked relentlessly with zoning boards, planning boards, and conservation commissions as well as state and local officials to get our projects approved. We also aided in the efforts to have ADUS deemed by right in the state of Massachusetts. It was my job to coordinate every stage of the project once the project was handed off from the sales team. This included:
•Working with the factory to insure that all state and local codes where met in the design and build of the prefab home
•Working with planning boards, zoning boards, conservation commotions and building commissioners to permit the projects
•Surveying the land to discover and layout the best placement of the ADU
•Coordinating all site work and excavation
• Building ICF Block foundations
•Coordinating all Subcontractors for septic, plumbing and electrical services
• Coordinating the travel plans of the ADUs from the factory to the lot.
• Coordinating police escorts as needed. Coordinating with crane operators to hoist the ADUs onto the foundation.
•Coordinating with crane operators to hoist the ADUs onto the foundation.
•Under my supervision, LiveWell then completed the installs. This included attachments to the foundation, all roof structures, partner walls, exterior stairs, decks, remaining siding, remaining windows and all remaining interior finish work.
