• Temperature Control Unit (TCU), Automated a TCU using Python and Jupyter Notebook to regulate the temperature of an egg incubator. Created automations to adjust temperature based on setpoints.
• Decaffeinated Coffee Beans via Supercritical Carbon Dioxide, Designed equipment simulation via ChemCAD and created corresponding PFD and P&ID. Optimized the production rate based on a market analysis, along with proper storage, cost analysis, environmental impacts, and a HAZOP analysis.
• Flooding of a Distillation Column Containing Ethanol and Water, Completed SOP and determined operating parameters. Used GC to obtain feed, distillate, and bottoms compositions. Calibrated thermocouples and rotameters. Used material balances to determine measurement errors.
• Feedback Process Control Unit, Controlled warm water stream via cold stream rate adjustment. Implemented P, PI, and PID controllers using Ziegler-Nichols Method.
• Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) Design, Analyzed residence time for 2nd order saponification reaction. Created calibration curves for pumps using step change method. Created calibration curves including all pumps attached to the CSTR using the bucket and stopwatch method.
• Heat Exchanger Design, Designed a SOP and performed HAZOP analysis for three heat exchanger configurations. Calculated overall heat transfer coefficients and constructed physical steam pipe.
• Optimization of Cultured Meats, Enhanced marbling in bovine satellite and smooth muscle cells using textured soy protein (TSP) scaffolds. Integrated adipocytes into TSP pores by tuning sizes through filtration and adjusting stiffness by weight%.
