  • USACE contracted with Maloney Odin Joint Venture to construct approximately 1.7 miles of flood risk management levees along the South San Francisco Bay Shoreline. The project requires that the levees be degraded and constructed under an adequately dewatered condition throughout construction. To maintain such conditions, sheet piles and earthen cofferdams were constructed and installed hydraulically to contain the levee work areas. In addition, a dewatering system was installed and operated to contain the hydrostatically controlled conditions around the work areas.
  • In addition, Khalefah was responsible for ensuring the contractor implemented the three-phase inspection process, and complied with project specifications and permits related to discharging water quality. Other responsibilities included project scheduling, invoicing, and management.

  • UPRR contracted with Odin to remediate a HAZWOPER site with soil and groundwater contamination issues.
  • Included as part of the remediation is excavating the shallow, pesticide-impacted soil, sending it offsite for disposal, and covering and capping the site to a designed final grade.
  • Installation of Bioretention swales that included a connection to the existing concrete storm drain was one of the definable features of the work.
  • The project engineer’s responsibility on this project was to assist the superintendent with grade setting, especially in the excavation phase, due to the pesticide-impacted soil.
  • Other responsibilities included submitting daily reports to the client, preparing submittals, and conducting weekly SWPPP inspections.
