KIANA ATWELL

• Delivers pre and post-operative care for critically ill trauma, orthopedic, vascular, oral, ENT, maxillofacial, plastics, neurologic, cardiac, emergency and general patients
• Receives patients directly from the OR and recovers from anesthesia
• Provides trauma specific patient care such as stabilizing critical patients, performing mass transfusions and fluid resuscitation
• Administers, monitors, and frequently assesses titratable vasoactive, cardiac and sedation medications
• Maintains invasive hemodynamic line and specialized equipment including arterial lines, external ventricular lines, ventilators, continuous renal replacement therapy and skeletal traction
• Assists providers with chest tubes, line insertions, wound care, and bedside procedures
• Demonstrates effective response to crises situations and prevents patient deterioration by early intervention and use of ACLS protocols
• Delivers critical care to overflow Neuro ICU, Burn ICU and Medical ICU patients
• Precepts nursing students and new hires.

• Learned and tested on an in-depth curriculum with emphasis on advanced physiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology

• Clinical rotations - Burn ICU, Emergency Department, Medical ICU, Neuroscience ICU, Surgical-Trauma ICU, Cardiovascular ICU
