I am currently a Crime Analyst I in Background Clearance Unit at California Department of Justice with more than 4 years experience analyzing RAP sheet. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal and Justice in 2019 at Sacramento State University. I used to work as a Community Service Officer for the Sacrament State Police Department for 2 years and since then I have been working closely and extensively with analyzing California and out of state RAP sheets. I am a highly motivated individual with great background in working with RAP sheets, computer, data entry as well data analysis.
Since December of 2021, I joined the Background Clearance Unit in the Bureau of Firearms. I was able to utilize my previous skill set working with RAP sheet & analyzing criminal records from a variety of criminal databases and handling confidential information to apply to my current daily duty which is to determine firearms eligibility of California applicants. Furthermore, I help assist with Background Ammo Eligibility Clearance as well as Personal Firearms Eligibility Check on top of my daily Dealer Record of Sales application. I am knowledgeable in analyzing rap sheets as well as related documents such as arrest reports, court dockets and dispositions, etc. I am experienced working with different databases such as DROS, AAS, LEAWEB, APP Processor as well as physical manual folder since I do work with them on a daily basis. I also proficient in chasing my own documents such as contacting law enforcement agencies, attorney offices and courts all around the United States to obtain documentations to make my best determination. I will always go above and beyond to help with any additional tasks my supervisor need me to do and I am willing to work more than required overtime hours by my unit.
I had the privilege of working for California Department of Justice as a Crime Analyst I role since August of 2019, where I learned valuable skills such as searching and analyzing criminal records from a variety of criminal databases and handling confidential information on a daily basis. My duty was to perform the analytical task associated with evaluating criminal data and performing tier level assessments for registered sex offenders. I performed the initial tier assessment for offenders required to register in accordance with CA Senate Bill 384. I am knowledgeable in analyzing rap sheets as well as related documents such as fingerprint cards, court minutes and dispositions, etc. I worked in an environment where attention to detail and communication with my coworkers are absolutely crucial.
While working as a Crime Analyst under the SB-384 team, the goal was to process a total of 160 thousand or more sex offender records in CA in span of 2 years. I will then put these offenders into tier level based on the severity of the crimes that they committed previously. This deadline was shortened by 6 months, therefore, I was pushed to work even harder to meet this new deadline. The tiering process met a lot of delay due to missing conviction information on many records due to how old they are or simply because they are from out of states and out of the country or deceased. Despite that, I was able to finish the goal set out by my superiors before the deadline while maintain the accuracy of my own work.
