Developing Optogenetics for Progesterone Production

• Involved bioluminescent injectors and programmed cells. Cells within the zona reticularis will be taken out and injected with the genetic material for rhodopsin.
• Luciferin and luciferase will be implanted on the outer layer of the adrenal cortex and will be programmed to deliver the necessary amount of bioluminescence.
• Created light that led to the diffusion which caused a production of progesterone

Developing Optogenetics for GERD Application

• Rhodopsins would be an advantage of reducing the concentration of hydrogen and potassium in the interior cell and neutralizing the overproduction of acid
• Involved KR2-R109Q as rhodopsin that intakes potassium and gloeobacter rhodopsin that intakes hydrogen ions to control ion exchange
• Modified standard pillcam to act as a light source (LED on both sides)
• Required further studies and trials

Developing Technique to Avoid Phrenic Nerve Damage During Cryoablation

• Designed 3D printed heart mold
• Created a heart model using agar-water mixture
• Tested temperature travels from pulmonary vein to phrenic nerve
