Summary

All the work listed I did in children's ministry was volunteer. I was eventually paid for working at the preschool. All the above was simply me following God's will. It's amazing at the things God can do with a clean and willing vessel!

My marriage ended in 2012. I closed the preschool and returned to Englewood Baptist with my son and his family. I was told by the children's leaders that I needed to heal from my broken marriage and I shouldn't start back working with children. What I really needed was to serve God by using the gifts He'd given me. Then my son was associate pastor and now pastor, so I've worried satan would use me

working in church to somehow hurt him. We both agree that since we now have a board of Godly men to oversee church problems that I should start back being used of God. I'm so excited at the thought of serving Him by working with children again! I do understand the process and I accept whatever the board decides. I ask you to please pray carefully because I already feel the Holy Spirit stirring me up and I'm ready to start planning and helping our church to grow! Thanks and God Bless!

Work History

Adult Music Director

Safe Harbor Baptist Church
09.2008 - 12.2012
  • Safe Harbor Baptist had 3 elderly ladies singing for their choir and another lady leading them and the church hymns before preaching. She agreed to let me try. Our choir program grew and we also did specials on Christmas and Easter. I eventually turned adult choir over to a man that had worked in music for years at his former church. It continued to grow until our choir loft was full! We had many in the choir that started singing specials before our service. Wesley Free and Megan Beard were a few of them :)

Preschool Director

Safe Harbor Baptist Church
09.2008 - 12.2012

I felt that starting a preschool and daycare would help our church attendance, so I started Kingdom Kids Academy. I advertised, made some renovations to our Children's Ministry which was downstairs, hired a teacher for the babies. I ran it, but also taught 3, 4 and 5 year olds every morning. Some families joined our church that had children in our preschool, but not as many as I'd hoped. We had grown to 4 to 5 teachers including me and 30 children by December of 2012.

Children's Ministry

Safe Harbor Baptist Church
05.2008 - 12.2012
  • 2008 : As a christian wife should, I left my children's ministry at Englewood Baptist Church, to support my husband. He felt God was calling him from being an evangelist to start pastoring a small church with 25 members (Safe Harbor Baptist).
  • At the time we started this church there were no children's classes or activities. I started a Children's Church with 3 children. As it grew I eventually started a puppet ministry for Sunday morning Children's Church. I started a Children's Choir also and Patch Club on Wednesday nights.
  • I started a Sunday School class for 6th through 12th grade. This was considered our youth group. To help with attendance and draw new members, I planned a youth fun night once a month on Fridays nights. I kept a roll and it was required to attend Sunday School and Sunday morning church service at least 3 Sundays per month. I also used these teens to grow our Children's Church puppet ministry and the same attendance was required to be a part of it. Children's Church grew from 3 to 25 and the youth group from 2 to 20 by 2012.

Children' Ministry

Englewood Baptist Church
09.1992 - 06.2008
  • 1992 : Started teaching Sunday School grades 4th - 6th.
  • 1993 : Started teaching Wednesday Nights grades 1st through 6th. Continued to teach grades 4th through 6th for Sunday School on Sunday mornings.
  • 1995 : Started Children's Choir for ages 3 years through 6th grade. Organized Christmas plays and special music for Easter every year after choir was started.. Children preformed special songs every few months for Sunday morning service in sanctuary.
  • 1999 : Started a bible club (Patch Club) for ages 3 years through 6th grade. Split the class and a lady helping me (Jan Bailey) took 3 years through kindergarten to a separate classroom after we did music together. We named this age Pee Wee Patch Club. I taught 1st through 5th with several ladies rotating to help me.
  • I continued to teach 4th through 6th for Sunday School with Andria Williams as my helper. She taught once a month.

Children's Ministry

Englewood Baptist Church
  • Patch Club and Children's Choir continued to grow so Bro. Bill moved us to a larger room. This was the room across from the Ladies' Sunday School classroom (Old Children's Church room). I started a puppet ministry to help with music in Patch Club. This gave the older kids something to help them feel important, to keep them faithful. I kept a roll and attendance was required to be a puppet team leader, a class team leader, or to have speaking parts, and solo parts in our choir programs. They were required to be in class at least three Sunday nights a month, unless sick, and mom called me to verify.
  • I turned my 4th through 6th grade Sunday School class over to Andria Williams. My schedule was very busy planning for Patch Club and the choir specials.
  • God blessed Patch Club and Children's Choir for many years and used it to help church growth.
