Apapacho: Mexican Recipes to Feed the Soul (2024)

From the back cover:

When dozens of families from around the world came to Mexico in search of a cure for their children who had a brain tumor called DIPG, they found something more: the steadfast love and devotion of a local community that rallied around their children. It was the warmth and generosity of our Mexican friends that allowed us to feel the love of family, however far we were from home.

They gave us apapacho—a soul hug.

Apapacho is a tribute to our Mexican friends, wrapped up in the recipes of the food that sustained our families during the most difficult time of our lives.

In this collective treasure, you’ll find authentic Mexican recipes from our friends and several acclaimed Mexican chefs and restauranteurs, as well as many that I’ve developed after traveling throughout Mexico and learning about its magnificent culture and gastronomy.

Personal

I live in my home state of Rhode Island with my husband Michael, our two daughters, and our two dogs. I enjoy writing, cooking, writing about cooking, traveling throughout Mexico, hiking, spending time on the beach, and sniffing out new locations to explore with the pups. I’m passionate about helping others, living life to the fullest, and feeding people—even when they don’t know they’re hungry. Nothing warms my heart and gives me hope like seeing my students learn how to express themselves effectively through writing.
