Work History

Teacher Assistant

Child Resource Center
  • While substituting, I worked at a Child Resource Center. The Center supplied toys for children and gave education to parents about safety, nutrition, and parenting skills. I handled supplies, worked with children and children reading supplies, and cleaned toys.

Daycare/General Education Teacher

Monarch Little Learners Academy
  • As lead teacher, I was in charge of planning themes, lesson plans, and implementing lessons. I wrote reviews and kept organized records of student’s habits like eating or speaking if they were nonverbal. I could be expected to handle a full classroom independently and adapt my lessons throughout the day.

Special Education Teacher

Monarch Little Learners Academy
  • In the Special Education classroom, I could be expected to think quickly and respond to sudden changes from students who had added behaviors. I had to navigate lesson planning that suited my students and formatted them to strengthen the skills of those who needed extra assistance. On top of classroom time, I could be expected to also complete paperwork. This was a temporary substitute position. I do not have a specific degree in special education.

Teacher Assistant

Monarch Little Learners Academy
  • Due to COVID-19, I took the position of teacher assistant. It was like my previous position as General Education Teacher and allowed a transition back to Special Education and General Education teacher if necessary. I worked alongside the lead teacher to complete classroom tasks and was depended upon by the Special Education teachers to assist during the day. I handled the classroom if the lead teacher was absent and kept the classroom activities consistent for the students while caring for them.

Lead Teacher Preschool

Buffalo Niagara YMCA
  • As lead teacher for the YMCA, I kept track of and planned lesson plans while following the curriculum set in place through the school district. I helped my teacher aide clean the classroom and serve breakfast/lunch. I completed report cards and other testing that each child needed to move into kindergarten. I communicated daily with parents at drop off or pick up, along with writing out student journals if the parent required them. I had to work with IEP’s goals that were set by a student’s therapist. Communication between myself and the therapist was necessary to help the student succeed in the classroom. Due to my classroom being in a school building away from the main preschool, I had to think and work independently to solve problems and communicate with my director if a serious issue should arise.
