  • 24 years of experience as a grade 8 step 10: making work assignments, making schedules, accommodating lunch rotations, making daily changes to accommodate last minute call off or extra schedules-notify doctors of daily plans.
  • Handled daily management of imaging and field consults, reassign more junior technicians to improve work flow
  • Regularly meet with optometry staff and communicated issues with new hires.
  • Recognized change of needs throughout the day and reassessing myself to clinic where needed when clinic is behind.
  • Ability to perform the full range of supervisory duties which include: worked with optometry chief to design and issue competency assessment for new technician trainees.
  • Worked with optometry chief to redesign technician questions and developed skills assessment.
  • Elected twice by optometry chief to sit on interview panel for staff selection.

  • In my nearly 25 years service to the VA I have experienced working with a variety of other employees as we have had more than 15 technicians pass through over the years that I helped train. Optometry has students rotate every 3mos and residents who change out every year and have also helped train them on how to work best with technicians, how to best communicate what kind of images they need through work orders in CPRS.
  • I have been the longest I have a deep relationship with the Senior doctors who come to me for opinions on any technician issues, though conflict amongst us is rare
  • As most senior technician I have assisted in the onboarding and training for 15+ technicians teaching them CPRS skills, how to work up patient for the doctor and along with opthalmic imager trained and supervised their us of ancillary testing visual fields for the trainee I am currently training, I also assist in administrating the skills assessment.
