1-What school and program (LCMHC, LMFT, LCSW etc.) are you a part of and when would you need to start your practicum/internship?
I am currently a student at Liberty University in the LCMHC program with a graduation date at the end of 2027 should I start my practicum in January.
2-What are the hourly expectations and length of the practicum/internship? Will you need both a practicum and an internship?
Liberty University has the following requirements for my program: Practicum total: 100 hours of Clinical Mental Health counseling. (Practicum) Direct client contact Minimum of 40 hours Hour Requirements: Minimum 20 hours of onsite, in person clinical mental health counseling individual counseling. Remaining direct client contact hours must also be completed onsite and may consist of onsite, in person counseling, onsite telemental health, group counseling, or intake sessions.
3- Are you comfortable working with people of various cultures and/or walks of faith as clients and co-workers? Are you wanting to work for a soley faith based practice?
Faith is an important part of my personal life, however, I am more analytical in my thinking and tend to look at what the science and data collected reveals around a problem first. Additionally, I want to help a broad range of people, and not just limit myself to only helping fellow Christians, so a non-faith-based organization is what I am hoping to learn under. I carry a deep appreciation for other cultures and faiths, so the thought of learning about and from people of various cultures and faiths excites me.
4-What are your plans or goals after school?
After graduation I intend to use my new skills to help people, especially in areas of grief and trauma. I also intend to further my education so I can specialize in particular therapies such as EMDR or Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I love to learn and have considered getting a doctorate as well.
5-Are you interested in employment after graduation if it was offered to you?
I absolutely would be interested in employment, as I do not have a planned place of employment yet, and so I am open to every opportunity that may present itself. However, even if employment was not offered, I would still be incredibly grateful for the chance to learn and grow through practicum placement.
6-If you are not interested in working at our office, are you interested in LCMHC supervision once you graduate?
Yes, I would be grateful for the chance to have LCMHC supervision as well.
I would like to thank you again for the opportunity and taking the time to read my response. I’ll end by stating that I would be incredibly grateful for the chance to learn and grow through this practicum placement. I am available anytime, day or night, and look forward to your response.
