As a member of hospital leadership, the Clinical Manager collaborates with appropriate clinical disciplines to achieve a safe and optimal patient care experience for an identified patient population. I have 24 hour accountability for the coordination and continued oversight of my unit to facilitate effective, efficient, and patient centered care delivery. I am responsible for the effective management of human and fiscal resources as well as monitoring and evaluating patient outcomes.

The Nursing Professional Development Specialist facilitates the professional development of nurses in their participation of lifelong learning activities to enhance their professional competence and role performance for the provision of safe, quality care.

As the evening shift manager, I was designated as the leader for the clinical units for a designated time frame. I had responsibility and accountability for all patient care activities, personnel management, staffing coordination, and operational management during my shift. I assured that the educational needs of assigned staff were supported and supported all functions of Business Unit Operations.

I was a staff nurse, charge nurse, and preceptor on a 36 bed medically complex ventilator dependent unit.

As a resource/role model for good clinical practice, I assumed responsibility and accountability for a group of 36 medically complex ventilator dependent patients, while they were under my care. In collaboration with the Registered Respiratory Therapy Team leader, I coordinated patient care activities on a daily basis.

Prior to assuming the role of Evening Shift Manager in 2013, I fulfilled the role on an as needed basis.

My responsibilities included direction, coordination, provision and evaluation of patient care in the pre and post surgical setting.
