  • As a Medical Assistant, I assisted my Physician or Flight Surgeon with a number of tasks such as ordering labs, scheduling medical appointments, instructing patients about medications, preparing patients and treatment rooms for procedures, maintaining patient medical records, assisting patients with yearly physicals of all sorts, and maintaining my command's readiness by ensuring all Sailors are up to date with their immunizations.

  • In my many years in customer service, I've obtained the ability to effectively communicate and problem solve under pressure.
  • Ability to use positive language - I understand that every time a customer reaches out, it won't always be the easiest conversation. With my experience, I know that is extremely important to remain positive and empathetic with them while simultaneously steering the conversation in a more upbeat and positive direction.
  • Empathetic - I take pride in listening to and understanding the customers' needs and requests while guiding them to a solution and making them feel comfortable and welcomed.
  • Self-control - You never know what type of customer you're going to encounter when you answer the phone. In the event that it is an irate customer, I know the extreme importance of maintaining self-control. Doing so, allows me to think clearly and use my persuasive speaking skills to try and deter the customer from being so upset and ultimately satisfying the customer's needs.
  • Thick skin - I get that everyone I encounter will not be the most pleasant. It's what comes with the nature of the workplace and customer service. I constantly remind myself to not take things personally and that these people don't actually know me so whatever they say or feel towards me, should never shift my personal view of myself. Instead, I should focus on the task at hand and trying to revert them to a happy and satisfied customer by the end of our conversation.

Activities

Outside of my duties as a U.S. Navy Sailor, I thoroughly enjoy volunteering in my community. My community involvement consists of working at food banks, building houses, community clean-up crews, reading to little kids, mentoring the youth, command fundraisers. Servicing other people bring me a great deal of joy and content. It truly satisfies my heart to help people in any way possible.
