• Responding to emergency reports of child abuse and neglect after hours
• Documenting and reporting to on call supervisors to make the best decisions for children
• Ensuring safety of a child if a removal occurs and ensuring placement with family/foster home
• Interviewing all members of the family to assess risk

• Built solid and trusting rapport with children and families, fostering trust and communication to meet case needs.
• Supervise multiple foster families by arranging, evaluating and monitoring foster care services ensuring that children are safe and receive appropriate care
• Match children to families, train, evaluate, license, and re-license foster homes and participate in Foster Family Services, Foster care reviews and Permanency Planning Conferences.
• Complete comprehensive family assessments of prospective and approved foster parents with appropriate recommendations inclusive of evaluating foster homes through in home visitation, observations, interviews and evaluations to determine the ability of the family to meet children's needs in accordance and compliance with the laws, regulations and standards for licensing.
• Place and monitor children in substitute care settings when necessary
• Record detailed progress reports pertaining to children/families/collaterals involved with the Department
• Provide full supports to foster families caring for foster children
• Arranging for services and resources for the foster parents, if needed
• Assisting the foster parent in navigating the activities and expectations of the child welfare system
• Assisting the foster/pre-adoptive family in enrolling in Foster MA Connect
• Encouraging foster parent(s) to complete weekly reflection log and review the log monthly
• Reviewing the training and support plan with the foster parent(s), including available DCF resources and supports and other education and training resources
• Facilitate foster parent MAPP classes
• Attend recruitment events
• Visiting the foster/pre-adoptive family monthly

Conducting quarterly meetings with foster parents and child’s social worker

• Assess, evaluate, conduct initial and ongoing case management of children/family services, and needs.
• Develop, review, update and ensure implementation of strength-based service plans for each child in care or custody including risk assessment, safety plans and goals.
• Complete all documentation in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements.
• Attend home and foster care visits; transport children to health, social services or other agency-related appointments as required.
• Maintain ongoing communication with DCF staff and other constituencies, initiate court action when necessary.
• Empower families to make stable commitments to children by providing counseling and coordinating visits with biological parents and/or guardians and other relatives; develop a helping relationship and ensure needed supports and services are provided.
• Attend weekly supervision, weekly staff meetings, in-service training, and team meetings.
• Complete Assessments and formulate service plans
• Make necessary referrals to community agencies
• Assess the risk of abused/neglected children
• Place and monitor children in substitute care -Interpret information as it relates to law, regulations, policy and procedures
• provide Testimony and prepare court reports for legal proceedings regarding CHINS, Care and Protection and Juvenile Delinquency
