Internship placement was in the residential program on the Oak Street team. As a member of the Oak Street teaching team, responsible for providing 1:1 and 1:2 and group instruction to children ages 12-18 years with autism and related disorders.
Responsible for correct implementation of curriculum and behavioral programming for children with intensive special needs. On a daily basis used the techniques of applied behavior analysis to run classes with several children. Teaching responsibilities were diverse, including discrete-trial training, communication skills training (reading and math), and teaching self-care and personal hygiene routines. Responsible for implementing behavior management programs to decrease aberrant behaviors such as stereotypy, and self-injury.
