I have always loved school and decided at an early age I wanted to become a teacher. Elementary aged students are my favorites. I have also learned I have a great interest in Special Education. All students can learn, we just have to find the best way for each student.
Working hard throughout my school years in Greeneville City Schools helped me earn the following scholarships:
Athletic Scholarship at University of the Cumberlands
Miss Tennessee participant scholarship
Disabled American Veterans scholarship
Being active in the Miss America organization gave me great volunteer opportunities in Tennessee. I was able to go the CARE center in Greeneville, TN to pack lunches for local children. The CARE center helps homeless and needy people in our community. I was also able to volunteer for the Special Olympics at Volunteer High school in Church Hill, TN. I got to help these amazing athletes reach their goals and have a great time.
I am looking forward to volunteering at my elementary school, EastView, when I return home in May. I will be working with Special Education students in their classrooms as well as in remediation. This is a great opportunity to learn while I get to enjoy these students.
I also spoke at a meeting for the organization For the Disabled American veterans. That was such a great honor.
