Working in the restaurant industry, especially one on the Michelin list has really taught me the values of customer service. I find the service industry to be a beautiful concept and human act that I find myself most comfortable in. Due to my creative outlook and expressive passions, I find it fascinating to connect with new people, something perfect for me in a field that requires one to speak and interact with hundreds of individuals.
I am incredibly driven and passionate when diving into something new.
I have spent the most time and gained the most knowledge in how the restaurant industry works. When I was a busser, I aided the servers; making sure guests had water, tables maintained and cleaned, provided with bread.
Food running helped me learn the complexity of each dish and the importance of table numbers.
Barbacking was a promotion I received in which I helped bartenders make drinks and keep their station clean and maintained. I have learned a lot about different spirits and wine during my time here.
While barbacking, I was required to do an immense amount of prep work pre-service.
Studying outside of work was extremely important here. I had to learn every ingredient in a dish, and be able to recite them to guests. We called this drop lines. Very difficult yet rewarding concept I am fortunate to have experienced.
Ran the register, bagged groceries, and cleaned the store daily. During my time here i further developed proficient customer service skills.
Helped in teaching kindergarten and fifth grade students. As I have goals of one day becoming an educator this was the perfect job for me tackle. Although not my intention, interning at an elementary school has increased my skills in patience, memorization, and managing multiple tasks and people at once.
I really wanted a guitar for my 16th birthday. To compensate for the high cost, I worked at McDonald's for over a year. Arrived on time daily, contributed greatly to the maintenance, standards on crowded days.
