Seasoned Shelter Worker at YouthWorks, adept in cross-cultural sensitivity and crisis de-escalation, I've significantly enhanced resident safety and emotional well-being. At Boys and Girls Club, I spearheaded a team, boosting efficiency through effective management and teamwork. My journey from dishwasher to Front of House Manager at Rafferty's Pizza underscores my exceptional communication skills and ability to foster positive environments.
I get the privilege to work in our shelter for runaway and homeless youth in our community. We primarily work with youth between the ages of eleven and seventeen. We provide a safe and inviting space for our youth as well as a space for them to catch their breath. Our youth come from a variety of backgrounds and varying degrees of trauma and our goal is to be listening ears, positive energy, and empathic to all we serve.
• Offered emotional support and crisis intervention to residents facing challenging situations
• Facilitated group activities to promote residents' social and emotional development
• Maintained accurate records of resident interactions, incidents, and services provided
I supervise the before and after-school program for Boys and Girls Club at Longfellow Elementary. I manage a team of 10 staff, and we have 117 students enrolled in our program.
I worked my way up from a fourteen-year-old dishwasher to cashier to the Assistant Manager and then the Front of the House Manager. I grew so much through the mentorship and opportunities that I received at Rafferty’s. My passion for meeting new people, creating a warm and comfortable environment, and providing a big, welcoming smile really thrived there.
