Accomplishments

Involved in 3M Process Improvement kaizen on the Mastic line. Resulted in 30% reduced changeover time.

  • Participated in the Water Filtration "Wholehouse Kaizen", a three day event with operators and engineering. In this kaizen the layout of the Wholehouse area was changed so raw materials now come straight to the operator resulting in fewer steps and movements to get the materials needed for the job.
  • Involvement in Water Filtration changeover kaizen. In this kaizen The kaizen went step by step through the changeover process while following along with the changeover sheet. Any unnecessary steps were removed along with steps that did not apply for that pleater and any out of order steps were put in the correct order. This made the changeover sheets easier to follow for newer operators and improved changeover time. In that kaizen I was given the task of an individual 5S Kaizen. I removed all unnecessary items and de-cluttered the area. I worked with maintenance to build framed shadow boards for each of the pleaters. There is no more time spent sharing/ looking for tools. Each pleater now has easy access to all the tools needed to perform the job.
  • Increase in machine up time in 3M's Plastic Molding and Assembly department. The up time was due to running machines on Friday night shutdown as long as possible. Machines were no longer shut down on full pallets if they were starting up on the same product. Operators then took over a majority of the cleaning on Friday nights so mold techs could focus on shutting down machines later in the shift. Friday night shutdown checklists were created to improve on operator accountability.
