I attended to the basic and advanced acts of daily living for my terminally ill husband. I scheduled and accompanied him to all of his medical appointments. I controlled and administered all of his medications, making sure that he was comfortable and not in pain. I cared for his nephropstomy tube site and emptied his urine bag as needed. I assisted in physical therapy exercises to alleviate pain located in his lower back and psaos muscle that had been infiltrated by a tumor that ate into his spine and muscle. I prepared all of his meals and took special care in ensuring he was getting accurate amounts of protein so that he was able to continue his treatments. I tracked his weight and later his vitals as his disease progressed.
I cared for my husband up until his needs surpassed my skillset at which time he was moved in to a nursing facility.
My husband (who was a black belt in Jiu Jitsu) and I decided to open our own business located in Scappoose as there was no Jiu Jitsu within the community. I was in charge of social media, marketing (I designed our website) and all administrative work. Unfortunately, our successful and growing venture came to an abrupt end when my husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer and was given less than two years to live. We decided to close our business and my job became taking care of my husband during his physical decline.
