I am a hard-working and quick-learning individual who is passionate about helping and leading others. While I may not have experience in this field as of yet, I am confident that the skills I've obtained throughout my professional career thus far have equipped me well for whatever obstacles I may face in my military career. My passion for law enforcement, coupled with my well-rounded skill set instills confidence in myself that I can work through any challenge I may face.
At first glance, my work experience is just a bunch of unimpressive customer service jobs. However, anyone who has worked in customer service before can tell you how many insanely valuable skills it has to teach you that you wouldn't think are transferrable to the professional world or the military, but very much are.
Time management and being calm under pressure are a must. The hostess made a mistake and sat two tables in your section at the same time, your table of 12 is ready to order their food, and the bar is taking forever to make your table's drinks. What do you do? Sink or swim. Figure it out. You must have the patience and conflict resolution skills to handle any unpleasant customers, and continue to multitask and prioritize those tasks efficiently.
I could give many more anecdotal examples, but I have a feeling that the "figure it out" skill that I've obtained is going to serve me a great deal during my time as an officer in the Coast Guard.
