Educational Audiologist for the Santa Clara Unified School District

  • Provide and recommend services and resources to support the individual needs of 70+ students with hearing loss
  • Collaborate with private sector audiologists, multidisciplinary teams, and caregivers to ensure school-based auditory needs are being met
  • Participate in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and Section 504 Meetings
  • Recommend, fit, and manage hearing assistive technology; check functionality of personal amplification
  • Monitor student progress in auditory training programs and promote self-advocacy skills
  • Complete classroom observations to assess students’ listening behavior in the educational setting
  • Provide equipment orientations, in-services, and consultations to support team members and facilitate a better understanding of the impact of auditory impairments on language, learning, literacy, and social development

  • Perform comprehensive outpatient pediatric audiologic and electrophysiologic evaluations including otoscopy, cerumen removal, immittance testing, visual reinforcement audiometry, conditioned-play audiometry, conventional audiometry, speech audiometry, otoacoustic emissions testing, and auditory brainstem response assessments (sedated and non-sedated; screening and diagnostic)
  • Provide diagnostics, treatment, and counseling within an inpatient setting, serving medically complex, trauma, intensive care, and oncology populations
  • Conduct hearing aid evaluation, fitting, programming, verification, validation, and troubleshooting on a variety of hearing aids (Oticon, Phonak, ReSound), bone conduction hearing devices (Cochlear Connect, Cochlear Attract; Cochlear Osia; Oticon Ponto, Med-El Bonebridge), and a variety of assistive listening devices
  • Perform all cochlear implantation services including educational meetings for patients/families, candidacy evaluations, activations, follow-up testing and mapping for all FDA approved manufacturers (Advanced Bionics, Cochlear, Med-El)
  • Ensure adequate audiological support in schools by collaborating with early intervention/educational teams and providing recommendations for Individualized Family Service Plan, 504 Plan, or Individualized Education Plan
  • Collaborate internally with fellow audiologists and externally with all relevant providers including pediatricians, Otolaryngologists, rehabilitation providers, etc.
  • Led more than 30 operational, administrative, and patient advocacy projects to improve quality of care and department efficiency
