Function as a Regional Subspecialty RN for a busy pediatric surgery and urology clinic. Responsible for scheduling, rooming patients, scheduling surgeries and procedures, coordinating with peds sedation/IR/anesthesia. Set up and assist with many procedures (including circumcision, polydactyly excision, ganglion cysts, suture or drain removals, central line repairs, etc) Perform referral triage, chart review & chart updates obtaining all necessary information for a comprehensive visit. Coordinate with many departments within Bronson for scheduling of our patients. Ordering/coordination/trouble-shooting supplies from DME providers and pharmacies. Independently perform G-tube teaching for new patients, dilating of GT stomas, replacing dislodged tubes, etc. Cross-trained to multiple subspecialties (cardiology, endocrinology, nephrology, gastroenterology)
Functioned as a staff nurse in a growing pediatric cardiology practice. Involved in the diagnosis/education/case management of this population. Pre-EHR I worked on developing educational materials. Assisted with the development of a pediatric EKG class for inpatient nursing staff. Involved with on-going staff education related to pediatric cardiac diagnoses. I travelled to St Joseph and Battle Creek for outreach clinics twice a month for 20 years! This required planning, preparation and communication to be out of the office and meet the needs of these patients. Precepted new staff and nursing students. Was fortunate to attend several comprehensive medical conferences. Won a President's Team Award in 2011.

As a new grad, entered into and completed a comprehensive nursing internship at CMCD, ultimately specializing in pediatric cardiology. Cared for medical and surgical cardiac pediatric patients, including cardiac transplant. Functioned as a Charge Nurse. Served on numerous hospital/unit committees and task forces. Completed Pre-Hospital Provider course. Received Excellence in Nursing Award, 1994.
