Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)

• Identify and document hazards related to:

• Live circuits

• Confined spaces

• Ladder and lift use

• Sharp tools and cable handling

• Ensure JHAs are reviewed with crews before starting tasks.

Enforce Electrical Safety Protocols

• Confirm de-energization and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures before starting work on energized panels or systems.

• Ensure workers test before touch and use insulated tools.

• Verify compliance with NFPA 70E and OSHA 1910.333 standards for electrical safety.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

• Conduct lift inspections and ensure workers are trained and tied off in boom lifts or elevated platforms.

Cable Routing & Housekeeping

• Prevent tripping hazards by organizing cables and tools.

• Enforce proper cable labeling, routing, and termination practices to avoid confusion or shorts.

Confined Space & Ceiling Work Safety

• Review permit-required confined space procedures if pulling wire in crawlspaces or ceiling voids.

• Monitor ventilation, lighting, and communication in tight or remote work areas.

Fire Safety & Hot Work Monitoring

• Ensure fire-resistant materials are used near sensitive equipment.

• Coordinate fire watch when soldering, welding, or using heat-generating tools.

• Keep extinguishers accessible.

Training & Toolbox Talks

• Conduct regular toolbox talks on:

• Electrical safety

• Ladder safety

• Proper PPE use

• Lockout/tagout

• Ergonomics for cable pulling

• Ensure all workers are trained on company safety protocols and local codes.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain:

• Daily safety logs and inspections

• Near-miss and incident reports

• Equipment checklists

• Job safety analysis records

Soil Classification & Protective Systems

• Confirm that a Competent Person classifies the soil (Type A, B, or C).
• Ensure appropriate protective systems are used:
• Sloping
• Benching
• Shoring
• Trench boxes

• Verify all systems are installed and maintained correctly.
