Initial Patient Care Spark

  • As a national ranked swimmer in high school, I was given the opportunity to work with Special Olympics athletes in the pool. I particularly remember Tim, who I was paired with frequently. Tim had cognitive deficits requiring me to teach in a way he received best and responded well too. I had to discover his goals and how to motivate him to achieve them. Communication and collaboration with this athlete helped him to achieve the success he wanted.
