Job overview
- As a brachytherapy nurse, I was responsible for setting up the OR for each procedure
- I assisted the doctors with a multitude of different types of brachytherapy for both prostate cancer and GYN cancers
- These procedures ranged in acuity from sterile to clean procedures as well as the sedation level of the patient from none to general anesthesia
- I worked with transport, pre and post-op, and anesthesia to coordinate the cases
- I would also provide education and discharge instructions to both the patient and their family members
- I was also cross-trained to work with external beam radiation
