  • Provide instructional leadership to ensure quality programming within the special education, deaf education, and general education classrooms where students with hearing impairments are being served.
  • Facilitate RDSPD team meetings to inform staff regarding new policies and
    procedures, share training materials, problem-solve, discuss instructional issues, and special activities requiring additional supports such as transportation, professional development support, or issues requiring input from administrators.
  • Conduct classroom/on-site visits to observe staff and discuss instructional strategies and ways for improving individual student achievement.
  • Consult and contact parents and sending district's administrators in special education regarding referrals, extra-curricular interpreting services, IEP meeting schedules, attendance, progress, and any changes in transportation scheduling due to holidays or inclement weather.
  • Attend RDSPD student IEP meetings to assist in reviewing data, answer parent
    questions and issues, and help complete IEP paperwork. Assist in processing
    referrals for RDSPD services:
  • Confer with RDSPD staff and representatives of sending districts as needed.
  • Attend IEP meetings in the sending district where referral is made to RDSPD cluster campus.
  • Provide parents with enrollment information and conduct site visit with parents/districts as appropriate.
  • Notify principals of pending RDSPD referrals to campus sites. Conduct training each year for interpreters, diagnosticians, speech pathologists, administrators, general education staff, and new RDSPD teachers regarding equipment, student IEPs, student accommodation needs, and the roles/responsibilities of everyone in the RDSPD regarding DHH students.
