Accomplishments

I took a non-compliant IHS program to compliance with the IHS 638 contract. I ws able to secure self-sufficiency with taking all IHS shares from the ACL hospital to provide all behavioral health services. I found that even though we took all shares, all IHS facilities must continue to provide services to the tribal members.

I took this program from only working with probation clients for substance use to being a fully capable mental health facility complete with outpatient substance abuse treatment, mental health counseling, domestic violence advocacy and shelters, a Prevention team of 5, implement Mental Health Care Coordination which is a community based education for elders and families from community members. I was also able to accomplish development of Food Distribution to distribute food to community members who are in quarantine or positive for Covid-19, development of foster care program and children and elder safety program, added a visitation center for parents to have a safe and appropriate place to visit with their children while the children are in custody of Laguna Tribal Courts, created a Youth Cafe, a safe place for tribal youth to congregate to socialize, participate in gaming and physically active programs, cultural gardening, tutoring, youth counseling and have a place to get healthy teen approved food and support.

Created and implemented standard operating procedures for all 11 developed programs. Was able to secure 3rd party billing through Medicaid and the Medicaid MCOs, and was able to develop the programs to follow the CARF International Standards to become CARF accredited.
