I am a professional Childcare Provider and Early Childhood Teacher with fourteen years of experience and a unique background; including working as a nanny, a swim teacher, a preschool assistant teacher, and working as the lead teacher, owner, and operator of my own licensed home daycare and preschool program. I have for the past sixteen years (ongoing) provided patient, kind, enriching, and fun childcare for families in their home as a pod teacher, full-time nanny, part-time nanny, or as a weekend childcare provider.
I come prepared to jobs with a plethora of games, art activities, science experiments, and a bag of books! Other activities might include educational activities, imaginative play, outdoor play, being creative with arts & crafts, and going on fun trips out of the house!
I believe it is crucial in the early years for children to soak in the sunshine, get their hands in the dirt, and explore the natural environment around them; so I try to get the kids outdoors as much as possible!
As a Pre-K pod teacher I worked with the children on essential Pre-Kindergarten skills such as : letter recognition, letter sounds, letter writing, fine motor skills, scissor skills, counting, early addition, patterns, number recognition up to 100, sequence of time (yesterday, today, tomorrow). I also worked with the children on art concepts such as color blending (primary colors to make secondary colors) and shades of color (adding white and black to make a color darker or lighter). We did a lot of art projects and fun science experiments as well! Additionally, I implemented a character curriculum where we spoke about and worked as a class on very important character traits such as kindness, honesty, friendship, respect, and responsibility. All of this was in combination with an approach that fostered social emotional development, equipping the children to become problem solvers.
