Technology Intern

Eli Lilly
Indianapolis, IN
05.2023 - 08.2023

Worked on a project that specifically involved data analysis and data visualization skillset and was required to perform the below fundamental activities:

  • Understand the business needs of a current pressing problem of claims data analysis and validation error interpretation that the team is facing and design an effective solution to it.
  • Compare different approaches to the solution to determine the best approach meeting Lily's in-house architecture.
  • Create an automated, robust, and scalable solution using Python and Power BI technology.
  • Learn about the pharmaceutical claims domain and the use of technology in the end-to-end claim processing process at Eli Lilly.
  • Give a presentation regarding the solution, future work, impact, and cost-effectiveness to the technology organization.

Graduate Research Assistant

Clemson, SC
08.2022 - Current
  • Working under the supervision of Dr. Ronald Gimbel, Director, Public Health, Clemson University, and with the Regional Medical Center Orangeburg to build an integrated life-cycle diabetes program for women by develop end to end framework of capturing health data and building a secured, consolidated database.
  • Will also build AI/ML models to forecast onset of diabetes, pre-diabetes, gestational diabetes.

Graduate Research Assistant

Clemson, SC
08.2021 - 12.2021
  • Worked under the supervision of Dr. Brian Christopher Dean to build frameworks for analyzing MRI data of the human brain using MATLAB and python programming language.
  • Found similarity and connectivity patterns in patients having Alzheimer's disease by leveraging linear algebra concepts like eigenvector and other several clustering techniques.

Graduate Research Assistant

Tampa, FL
01.2020 - 05.2021

Worked under the supervision of Dr. Adetola Louis-Jacques in the Mothers of Very Low Birth Weight Infants: Chronic stress, modification of DNA methylation and the gut microbiome 3 years (± 6 months) Postpartum project performing the following responsibilities:

  • Recruited participants by email and phone call.
  • Ordered all materials required for data collection.
  • Created RedCap Surveys for biographical information of participants and collect all information.
  • Developed and coordinated a link from which participants can schedule their visit.
  • Managed data entry and data storage using Box.

Graduate Research Assistant

Tampa, FL
09.2019 - 05.2021
  • Worked under the supervision of Dr. Maureen Groer And Dr. Samia Dutra performing wet lab procedures and assisting with assembling blood samples according to participant's number and date.
  • Observed a variety of lab skills such as ELISA, WBC separation, RNA extraction and PBMC isolation.
  • Participated in all lab associated duties and engaged in operational processes that require multiple hands to look after.
  • Assisted in data processing and data collection like formating references in EndNote and developing RedCap surveys.

Projects

Title: Comparing supervised algorithms' performances for fraud detection on imbalanced data.

Description: Often in the real world, we come across a problem of facing datasets which have class labels that are not balanced but actually highly skewed. If we take a real world scenario of predicting fraudulent activity or an onset of a disease then mostly the class labels will be skewed with negative class being much much more than positive class. In this project, the aim was to try several techniques to build very accurate predictive models and compare their performance using runtime and different evaluation metrics when the data is highly imbalanced, just like several real world scenarios, to primarily forecast financial fraud cases.

Title: Implementation and comparison of regression models from scratch.

Description: To predict the women's Olympic 100-meter race record time for this winter Olympic (2022). Three different regression model (linear, quadratic and cubic) were implemented from scratch to see which model was better at prediction.

Title: Implementation of Logistic Regression and Support Vector Machine Algorithms to predict whether capacitors from a fabrication plant pass quality control based on two different tests.

Description: ML models were implemented from scratch. Model performances were evaluated via several evaluation metrics like accuracy, precision, recall and F1.
