  • Barrel lapping is a precision gunsmithing process used to smooth, polish, and make uniform the interior of a gun barrel (bore) by working an abrasive-coated lead slug (or lap) back and forth through it. It removes microscopic tool marks and inconsistencies, which reduces copper/lead fouling, improves shot-to-shot consistency, and enhances overall accuracy.
  • Work within a team environment to manufacture high quality gun barrels.
  • Reverse taper and Straight lapping. Individually double hand lap rifle barrels of all calibers used in rimfire and centerfire rifles.
  • Working with a group of 4 to 5 Lappers, receive fluted barrels to clean out and perform straight lapping working in a fast-paced manufacturing process, meeting a goal of 8 to 9 barrels per day.
  • Perform quality inspections on work performed using a gun barrel bore scope to check the barrel’s interior.

  • Automotive – Work with father to maintain family vehicles. Oil changes, spark plug replacement, automotive engine maintenance, brake replacement, tire rotation, as well as other engine component replacement, and maintenance as required.
  • Wiring – Assisted my uncle to terminate, pin, and install wire harness for car stereo components. I also help around the house with small wiring projects like light fixture replacement.
  • Painting – Worked with father to design, paint, and build custom shelves and bookcases in the family home.
