Hello, my name is Kurt Hellmann. I am a public/government affairs, communications, and advocacy professional with a proven track record of influencing government officials, state and federal agencies, stakeholders, and constituents on issues of public importance. I have worked in both the public and private sectors in multiple industries to influence public opinion. I have led lobbying and grassroots campaigns, served as advisor on legislation and acted as a liaison between organizations and public officials. I have a proven track record of securing state and federal funding for programs, including: 1) obtaining $900,000 in first-time state funding to expand programs for Louisianans with disabilities 2) restoring Congressional funding for the Assistive Technology Act and garnering an additional $4 million in annual funding, and 3) achieving the reallocation of $16M in Medicaid Long-Term Care funding from Institutional Care to Home and Community-based Waiver Services. I also helped defeat efforts to pass Cap and Trade legislation in Congress and developed and executed the "Free to Choose Medicine" Campaign, focused on reforming the FDA drug approval process to allow for earlier patient access to experimental drugs and treatments. My history demonstrates my ability to manage large scale programs and lead projects to completion. I know I am only as good as the team I lead, so I take time to coach and mentor team members for career growth and success. My key areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, Lobbying/ Contract Lobbyist Management, Grassroots Campaigns, Coalition Development, Ally Engagement Across Party Lines, Public Affairs/Media Relations, Communications Management, and High-Impact Presentations. If you would like to discuss my skills and background, you will find my contact information in this profile. Thank you.
