As a Nurse Extern, I take vital signs twice a shift and take blood glucose checks also twice a shift as being main tasks for the day.

The other tasks that are also included is ensuring patient safety and comfortability by ensuring fall risk precautions were in place and assisting the patient's with ADLs as needed and kept cleanliness by cleaning the patient's.

If needed as I was checked off on placing foley catheters, IV lines, or NG tubes in my schooling I would assist with placing them with permission as is always required.

Overall I just kept the patients entertained and spoke to them as another human being in such a dark ominous environment attempting to make them smile or brighten their day as this is not normal for such people in a unknown environment reassuring them that I can help them to the best of my ability!
