As an English and Creative Writing major who takes her academic career very seriously, I am constantly seeking opportunities to gain recognition and to improve as a writer. In April 2021, I pursued the opportunity to enter my poem, "Strings rendered my restless" into the Academy of American Poets Prize. Judge and American poet, Jane Springer, provided praise for the poem as follows: "This fast sonnet wins for ‘most sonically lush lyric.’ I love the psalmist’s many shiftsfrom ‘restless’ to ‘rash lightning’ and ‘exposed my body to the gale’ to that final, called forth ‘harmony.'"
